Data
Data brings knowledge, knowledge enables analysis, analysis drives the opportunity to enhance designs and processes to deliver real productivity benefits. At APDI we ensure that unique sources of data are understood and information captured. Our operators on a daily basis strip, clean, rebuild and test module after module.
Their experience allows them to identify weaknesses and primary modes of failure on the products under remanufacture that engineering teams either within APDI or our customers could not possibly have the opportunity to identify. Changes over time can also be analysed. Bills of materials steadily change, which in some case reflect changes in the performance and longevity of the product or its constituent parts.
This knowledge can be documented within APDI ltd and shared with our customers, enabling design or process changes to be considered, driving further productivity into the business, ensuring the raw material content of all products is used to the maximum prior to full recycling. This capability along with the base remanufacturing process realises the environmental benefits to the business and society promoted by the strategy of the Circular Economy.
To that end, we collect and analyse data from receipt of unusable modules to their subsequent despatch as fully functioning, tested, products.
Bespoke software programs have been developed specifically for our business requirements, allowing our operators to record their decisions and activities as they work on customer’s modules. This allows critical data to be electronically recorded for subsequent analysis and evaluation in a number of ways from life data, to trend analysis and materials driven cost base fluctuations.
Our Mission and Principles
of Remanufacturing
Our Mission is to be regarded as experts in the re-manufacture of electro-mechanical modules/ assemblies. Click a segment for more details.
Learn the module application and customer expectations. Understand the module design and component functionality.
Learn the failure modes- Critical to know the reman process will capture all failure causes. Develop re-use criteria for all components.
Ensure capability of new materials. OE materials/components preferred. Rigorous field trials. In-house testing to ensure functionality and life.
Understand assembly requirements and settings- dedicated tooling and fixtures to provide capability. Fully trained workforce participating in the development of the process and FMEA’s. Robust final inspection. 100% machine test often used. Continual improvement as process matures. Build team involvement.
Work closely with customers’ & supply chain from design through manufacture to field support specialists.
